I was fortunate enough to photograph the marriage of Charlotte & Rutlidge down in Cape Town earlier this year. They got married in the Monkey Valley Resort Hotel which sits just above one of the most wonderful beaches in Cape Town - Noordhoek Beach. This Cape Town beach is part of the National Park as stretches as far as the eye can see. It's a little further from the main tourist beaches so at no point will you ever feel...

I get an increasing amount of enquiries for headshots these days, for use both in the corporate world and for actors and actresses updating their portfolios. I think photographers and clients alike can over complicate headshots in terms of where and how they are taken. Frankly all the ingredients you need is some nice light and a good backdrop and hey presto you have the makings of a lovely headshot. I'm fortunate enough that at my home studio I have...

In November last year I travelled to the Omo Valley in Ethiopia with Marius Coetzee from Oryx Photographic Expeditions to visit and photograph the marginalised tribes that live there. I'm honoured that some of my pictures have been featured in this months edition of the South African Airways award winning inflight magazine "Sawubona". It was an incredible experience and Ethiopia is truly a beautiful country. From eye watering lip plates, incredible body decoration and scaring to witnessing the ceremony which...

I was lucky enough to be asked by Ginny and Charlie to photograph their wedding day which was happening down on the south coast just outside Southampton. They have a beautiful home with ample gardens so the order of the day was exchanging vows at St Joseph's church in town and then back to "Mayfield" where a grand marquee was awaiting in a garden which I know the bride had spent months getting in tip top shape and looked amazing....

I wouldn't normally Blog about a newborn but it's ours! Here is Freddy at a few seconds old and then a couple of weeks old. Born 27th July 2017...

I had the pleasure to do some promotional photography for a newly formed 18 piece band last month. LUX were performing at "Under the Bridge" in Fulham and put on an incredibly energetic and entertaining show. I definitely used all the ISO capability that the Canon 1Dx Mk II affords given the low light underground conditions. Ever changing stage lighting also throws a few challenges out there but overall I loved photographing in such a vibrant atmosphere. Watch out for...

Before we departed the beautiful shores of Cape Town life for another year I managed to convince Emma that a maternity shoot with Mary was a grand idea! We decided on Camps Bay as a location. It has a lovely sea water pool located at the north end of the beach which often offers up lovely reflections. The pool was a little deeper than I expected and even armed with my 300mm I was forced to tip toe towards the...

I had the pleasure of photographing a selection of Cindy Bam's creations last week. Cindy is an established Cape Town designer who designs and makes all of her wedding gowns and evening dresses here in Cape Town. If your in the market you can either buy one of her popular designs or get something completely bespoke created for your special day or occasion. I decided to shoot the dresses at the beach where we could do a mixture of afternoon...

I really enjoyed photographing the lovely Cristina & Gerrit - a fine looking duo I think you will agree! Clifton 3rd was the chosen location and early morning was the shout re timing. Once again I used my trusty 1  x Elinchrom flash head with portable ELB 400 battery and Octagon soft box. It was a pretty cloudy morning so rather than needing to battle sunlight I was just looking for that little extra pop where necessary. The cloud cover...
